The Lego Movie is getting a sequel that will take on gender diversity in the toy aisle, a so-called “sore spot” for Lego. The company had been marketing almost exclusively to boys for years, and, after criticism, they’ve made an effort in recent years to reach out to girls through the launches of the lines for DC Super Hero Girls and Lego Friends. The hit film’s sequel will reportedly appeal to The Genreless Generation by exploring themes like “What’s different and similar about gender, when a boy plays vs. how a girl plays?” (Gizmodo)
