Facebook is betting on video as the future of the site, and their new service Watch wants to pull your eyes from YouTube (and Netflix, and Hulu, and Amazon). The platform will feature professional, original, and exclusive series but anyone can upload their own content—making it “more similar to YouTube than any other major video platform in existence today.” Users can subscribe for shows within Facebook’s apps and site, and new relevant content will be suggested based on users’ interests and connections, on which Facebook clearly has a mountain of data.
