Rumor has it Facebook has a new messaging app for teens in the works. A site sleuthing through code in Facebook’s main app reports the new offering will be called “Talk,” and target teens by adding parental controls and extra security features to take young people’s privacy protection to a whole new level. For example, teens won’t need a Facebook account to use the new app, and those who use it will not be publically searchable. If the rumors are true, the move would be another attempt to break through to younger users in an increasingly competitive social/mobile environment. (Rolling Stone)
