Millennials are actually reading more than other generations. According to a Pew Research Center survey, 80% of 18-29-year-olds read a book in any format last year, making them the most likely age group when compared to 73% of 30-49-year-olds and 70% of 50-64-year-olds. When narrowed down to the category of literature, or novels, plays, short stories, or poems not required by work or school, young readers are also engaged: the National Endowment of the Arts found that 43% of 18-34-year-olds read literature last year, closely following 65-74-year-olds at 49%.
