A new report is praising the fashion industry for its most diverse year in history, but it may be Hollywood that deserves the credit. Going through 147 fashion magazine covers from 2016, Fashionista found that 36% featured women of color—a 17% rise from 2015. However, covers can feature both models and Hollywood celebs, and with only a 0.7% rise in models of color on runways From Feb. to Oct. 2016, the industry still has a long way to go in the diversity front, especially if they want to keep up with young consumers, whose calls for diversity are intensifying.
