One Snapchat score is making or breaking teen friendships. A Snapstreak is a number that indicates how many consecutive days snaps have been sent between a pair of users—a method the platform uses to keep users engaged. Streaks can go back to zero when a snap hasn’t been reciprocated within 24 hours, and for teens that’s a “big deal” because it’s how many are measuring their friendships, and there’s a lot of pressure to keep a streak going. According to one college freshman: “if someone's name comes up in a conversation, I've heard people say things like 'oh yeah, I love her, we have a 200 day Snapchat streak.'” (Business Insider)
