MTV’s new president is “cleaning house” to draw Millennials back in. Chris McCarthy led VH1 to its “biggest ratings growth in 15 years,” and hopes to do the same for MTV by putting focus on quality over quantity. Scrapping several unscripted series, like Prison High, Air Sex, and Almost Impossible Game Show, McCarthy wants to bring in content that will “strike an emotional chord for Millennials,” like Awkward accomplished. He also wants to take live events like VMAs “beyond the screen” to further engage young audiences. (The Hollywood Reporter)
