Haggle-resistant Millennials are changing the car buying process. According to Automotive News, Millennials visit an average of 25 sites before purchase, meaning that they’ve “largely made up their minds by the time they arrive on the lot.” As a result, many car salesmen have lost their negotiating power, and the industry has started conforming by setting fixed list prices. Tesla, which will sell around 90,000 cars this year, has already initiated the practice, and Costco made a deal with General Motor dealerships to set 465,000 cars at fixed prices last year.
