Chatbots are being created to sell, to assist, and to just plain entertain, and they could take the place of apps. According to the CEO of chatbot Purple, “App overload, in general, is an issue…It’s really difficult to get someone to not only discover an app, but to habitually use it.” Bots, on the other hand, fit into the messaging platforms that young consumers are already using, sending automatic updates and creating a conversational relationship. Purple texts users with information about politics or science/tech daily. (Recode)
