Despite recent reports of bias, most Americans still trust Facebook as a news source. Recently allegations accused programmers of interfering with the Trending Topics bar to subdue conservative news. But a new poll found that it really hasn’t impacted users’ trust in the platform: “Almost half of users said they were ‘somewhat’ or ‘very’ comfortable with social media companies controlling what news appears on their sites, compared with only 34 percent who were ‘not very comfortable’ or ‘not comfortable.’” The survey also found that 31% said the news stories should be determined entirely by reader interest, compared to 11% who said it should be up to company editors.
