Toms Shoes “A Walk In Their Shoes” project is using the power of VR “to create empathy,” and show consumers how their purchase affects others first-hand. The VR campaign shows the journey of one Toms customer meeting a child in Colombia that he helped through his purchase. Millennials want charitable efforts to be transparent, and “virtual reality has been used as an incredibly effective tool for charities and humanitarian groups to show a broad audience the situation on the ground, beyond the statistics.” When we asked 13-33-year-olds what brand does the best job of supporting a social cause or charitable organization, the most mentioned brand by far was Toms Shoes.
