According to TBS’s executive vice president: “Broadcast is starting to replicate SVOD, that’s for sure.” To attract binge-watchers this April, both Starz and Showtime will be releasing entire seasons on their digital and on-demand platform, before cable-television premieres. Their focus is not just on scheduling, they are also making subscriptions of their networks available to customers of streaming platforms, like Amazon Prime and Hulu. Networks have experimented with the binge-streaming method before: Parent company Turner Broadcasting pre-streamed TBS’s Angie Tribeca and TNT’s Public Morals with mixed results (Public Morals was not picked up for a new season).
