For Millennials, running is a lifestyle. Researchers have estimated there are 18 million Millennial runners in the U.S., and according to a study on 16-36-year-old runners, their primary motivation is to lose weight and get in shape. The study also found that although in the past, races were almost evenly divided by male and females, 73% of its respondents ended up being women, explaining why most runner-oriented marketing is now focused on Millennial women. Being a runner was part of their identity and their dedication is strong: half of respondents sign up for races at least three months prior. (Washington Post)
