Banana Republic has signed the Cleveland Cavalier’s Kevin Love as “inaugural style ambassador,” to counteract decreasing sales. Love may not look like the typically “coiffed” Banana Republic model, but he has almost two million Twitter followers, and he’s letting them know about his excitement for the new venture. This is the first time the retailer has signed a pro basketball player, but after being without a creative director since last October and seeing a 17% sales drop over the last year, they hope he can inject some “magic” back in the brand.
