The belief that Millennials won’t pay for content is common, but it’s not necessarily true. They’re willing to pay for media if they think it’s good enough—and right now that means more Netflix and less news. A survey by the World Economic Forum found that 50% of 15-34-year-olds would pay for “premium entertainment content,” like Netflix, Spotify, and games, compared to just 39% of Boomers. However, they are not as generous when it comes to news publishers: under 25% said they would shell out paywall fees to read the news. Journalists were also the group with the least influence over digital media habits, ranking below brands and search-engines. (Newsbeat,Quartz)
