In our ranking of Millennials’ top holiday wishlist items, “gaming console” is the top tech item on the list—but Nintendo didn’t receive nearly as many mentions as Xbox and Playstation. The brand is hoping its highly secret new platform, codenamed NX, will turn that around. Nintendo has promised the console won’t be an extension of the Wii or Wii U, but “something unique and different.” Though more details won’t be released until 2016, the device is rumored to be mobile-friendly for on-the-go gaming, which may have been sparked by Nintendo’s upcoming release of their first free-to-play mobile app, Miitomo.
