Yesterday we looked at some of the many fast casual upstarts that could be young consumers’ next takeout obsession, and one longstanding chain hasn’t done enough to stand out in the increasingly crowded market. Subway’s sales have been falling as competition has grown. Though they build their brand on the idea of fresh fast food, they have “stayed the same, [while] better competitors got into the space.” Young consumers’ views of healthy ingredients has also evolved.
