This year’s MTV Movie Awards are tapping in to the mobile live streaming trend. The network is making it possible for viewers to watch the show through Twitter’s live streaming app Periscope, where they will be able to choose from more than 20 camera angles positioned around the event. MTV is also asking their Twitter followers to tweet #FrontRowUnleashed to activate an exclusive audience-focused camera, the Unleash Cam. The new live streaming apps allow MTV “to tap into the excitement and real-time nature of our events,” and this could be the testing ground for creating a second-screen experience for viewers.
