The Millennial generation is still delaying marriage, even when there is a baby in picture. In the past five years, over 25% of births to women between 15-44-years-old were to cohabiting, unmarried couples, the highest rate on record and almost double the number of the previous decade. This means that the majority of births outside of marriage are now to cohabiting couples. While this may be becoming a norm for the new generation of parents, sociologists fear that the trend could rob kids of the financial stability of a married household, and lead to more complex households, as parents who live together are more likely to split than those who are legally married.
