Jon Stewart's announcement that he will be resigning as host of The Daily Show has left a number of Millennials in distress. Stewart pioneered a new kind of news delivery that younger viewers love, using comedy to make serious topics approachable. A 2012 Pew survey stated that 39% of 2 million nightly viewers were 18-29-years-old. In comparison, only 19% of that age group made up Fox News’ audience, and 9% watched network nightly news. Many Millennials have grown up with The Daily Show and The Colbert Report as trusted news/entertainment sources, and a 2014 Ypulse monthly survey revealed that 22% of 13-32-year-olds use satirical news programs to get their news updates.
