The plight of the female Millennial has made for some very well received entertainment in the last few years (Broad CityGirls) and new online series The Skinny is looking to join their ranks. The Skinny focuses on an L.A. girl in her mid-twenties, struggling with “making it” and recovering from her bulimia. Yes, you read that right. Comedian Jessie Kahnweiler, the star and creator, understands that bulimia might not strike everyone as comedy fodder, but “wanted to make The Skinny as a way to talk about eating disorders.” She exemplifies Millennials’ desire to make darker topics a little lighter, and the show’s trailer hits on subjects like detoxes, catcalling, and body dysmorphia. The Skinny is currently fundraising on Kickstarter to complete their post-production work.
