Millennial workers are not showing much interest in getting into sales. After growing up during a recession, young employees aren’t necessarily attracted to the unstable and risky offers of a “competitive environment” and “tremendous variable compensation packages.” Sales positions seem to have the reputation of being high risk, competitive, and pitchy, while risk-averse Millennials are looking for a more stable income, and are more interested in working on a team. Some companies are beginning alter their approach, and are recruiting on college campuses, even hosting sales competitions in which they offer winners an interview with the company. (WSJ)
