The Mall, once an economic and social American staple, is no longer regarded as a hot spot. Fascinated by the downward spiral of the home of many childhood memories, Jack Thomas, 26, created the popular website, deadmalls.com, to document the hauntingly empty or closed down shopping centers beginning to form across the country. The website is a massive compilation of photos, information, and stories on both the thriving era and decline of malls. As both online shopping and time in general spent on the internet increase, the mall will likely continue to decline, unless brick and mortar can fight back. (New York Times)
