Roald Dahl’s children’s books won’t get a modern edit after all. It’s been a crazy week in the U.K. after Penguin Books announced plans to change the words in some of Roald Dahl’s books. The idea was to modernize the writing by removing potentially offensive content, such as references to weight. The situation spun out of control, with online debates sparkling all over the country—and beyond. Even the U.K. Prime Minister took a stance, criticizing the proposed changes to the text. Because of the intensity of the backlash, the publisher decided to revert to selling the original books. (BBC)
