Millennial targeted news sites, from BuzzFeed to Upworthy, have been on the rise in reaction to the generation’s disillusionment with traditional news sources. But are these sites actually attracting the demographic? Some are succeeding: In the month of July, Mic, Vice, and BuzzFeed had an 18-34-year-old readership of over 50%. Meanwhile, the generation also seeks out more “serious” sources online, and our own snapshot of Millennial news preferences found that 30% turn to news websites as their primary news source.
