A U.K. charity decided to tackle the issue of workplace classism with a horror movie. The 15-minute-long movie Stay Down features a young man from a working-class background trying to get a new job in a big firm, but being mocked and rejected by everyone in the organization. This “Film About The Horrors Of Workplace Classism” has all the ingredients of a real horror movie: creaky sounds, unidentified figures haunting the main character, and tense background music. The Social Mobility Foundation funded the campaign, with hopes to raise awareness about classism in the workplace, a little-known issue which “is still holding people down.” According to the charity, this discrimination is hitting young people hard, and those coming from working-class backgrounds are likely to earn at least £6K less than their middle-class colleagues.
