Turkey is no longer U.K. Gen Z’s go-to dish for the winter holiday, according to Tesco. The British supermarket chain revealed its annual winter holiday report, and one of the main findings is that Gen Z is not as interested in having turkey on their winter holiday tables as older gens. Swapping chicken for turkey is a simple trick to save pennies, but it seems that it’s not just budget that has this gen moving away from the turkey. The study found that Gen Z is increasingly interested in trying different cuisine, and don’t feel that they have to stick to traditional British food—a similar finding to YPulse’s Global / Local Citizenship Report. Tesco’s survey also found that two in five Gen Z Brits said they plan to drink less alcohol during the winter holiday, confirming the fact that Gen Z is the sober-curious generation. Another interesting finding is the rise of “Friendmas,”—young people meeting up with friends to celebrate the winter holiday—echoing the rise of Friendsgiving in NA. (Express)
