Gen Z parents are doing registries differently.

Gen Z parents are doing registries differently. While 75% of new parents create a baby registry, what they add to it might depend on their age. According to a survey of expecting or new moms by What to Expect, Gen Z parents are registering for fewer items, and are less likely to register for “big ticket” items like playards and travel systems than Millennials. However, they’re more likely to register for self-care products like birth recovery items and OTC medications. Both generations don’t want to appear to be asking for too much, but Gen Z is more likely to say they’re wary of asking for gifts because of rising costs, the pandemic, among other reasons. Overall, baby registries are being filled with more practical items by all new parents, with “medicine cabinet must-haves” increasingly popular, and sound soothers and bassinets both being asked for more in 2022 than they were in 2020.
