This week, Millennial parents are getting judged for not knowing the words to classic nursery rhymes.

Jul 21 2022

This week, Millennial parents are getting judged for not knowing the words to classic nursery rhymes. (Scandalous!) According to a recent survey of parents 26-41-years-old in the U.K. (commissioned by baby product manufacturer MAM), only 53% of them know the words to “Baa Baa Blacksheep,” and only 51% know the words to “Row Row Row Your Boat.” Even more “shockingly,” the majority can’t sing “Rock-a-Bye Baby.” (In fairness, we have CocoMelon to sing nursery rhymes to our kids instead!) But those horrified to think that a new generation is growing up without their parents crooning these old school tunes should know that 83% of Millennial parents do still believe that singing to their kids is an important part of bedtime and bonding, they just might be singing some non-traditional songs (one respondent mentioned Kanye). On top of this, 90% report that they read to their kids before bed, with The Very Hungry CaterpillarThe Gruffalo, and We’re Going on a Bear Hunt popular picks. (Study FindsExpress)
