Mixology is reaching Gen Z on TikTok, reviving “cocktail culture” for those who have yet to set foot in a bar.

Mixology is reaching Gen Z on TikTok, reviving “cocktail culture” for those who have yet to set foot in a bar. Over the course of the pandemic, bars were left barren and bartenders were left jobless. But on TikTok, popular mixologists like Kaityln Stewart (@likeablecocktails) and Lucas Assis (@thelucasassis_) were able to amass huge followings by teaching young drinkers to make classic and unique cocktails—at home. How-to cocktail videos are an aesthetic and one Gen Z is coming to love. To JohnnyDrinks (an account run by a father-son duo with over 2 million followers) it seemingly doesn’t matter if younger generations drink less than any other gen, they are more interested in content with good “storytelling, trends, personalities, and editing” and #BarTok has all of the above.
