Patreon launched an incubator program for creators of color. YPulse told you about all the new programs that are supporting next gen BIPOC artists and creators, and Patreon is the latest to join in. At the end of April, the creator-focused membership platform launched Pull Up, an incubator and creative community that wants to give creators of color access to funding and other resources to grow their businesses. The program is supported by Issa Rae’s Hoorae Media, Blair Imani, Amanda Seales’ Smart Funny & Black, Durand Bernarr, Jade Novah, Tim Chantarungsu, Tina Yu, and more. To kick off the launch of the program, Patreon hosted “Pull Up Late Night,” a global livestream that featured D Smoke, Nicole Cardoza, and RT TV. According to the company’s Head of Creator Initiatives for the Patreon Creator Success team Hewan Abebe, she hopes that the program “serves as a conduit for creators of color to retain ownership of their work, inspire community, and foster change to help generations coming up.” (Essence)
