Luxury resale is attracting more young consumers.

Luxury resale is attracting more young consumers. According to research from The Real Real analyzing data from its 24 million members, 40% of shoppers are replacing fast fashion with resale; 43% shop resale because it’s more sustainable; and sold out pieces attract 50% more new buyers than regular resale items. As for the top brands on the luxury resale platform? Gucci is No. 1, followed by Prada and Louis Vuitton. Additionally, dresses are the most sought-after category sold by first-time consignors and bought by first-time buyers. The Real Real’s president notes, “From Gen Z to the Silent Generation, every demographic increased its adoption of secondhand luxury in 2021, and nearly every brand saw rising resale value as a result.” YPulse’s luxury research shows 48% of Gen Z females (26% of males) and 39% of Millennial females (24% of males) are interested in shopping for secondhand luxury items. (Fashion United)
