Online retailer Very is helping Brits get into the holiday spirit early by dropping the U.K.’s first holiday ad of 2021. The tongue-in-cheek TV spot debuted October 1 and features a family decorating the house with Christmas lights and singing a rendition of “Holly Jolly Christmas”—only to be interrupted by Halloween trick-or-treaters, who appear dismayed when they’re handed Christmas cookies instead of Halloween treats. While it might seem too early for a Christmas ad, YPulse’s forthcoming winter holidays survey found that half of young consumers in WE plan on kicking off their holidays early this year, while 56% agree, “I want to start celebrating the holidays earlier than usual to have something positive to focus on.” (Ad Age)
