French luxury fashion conglomerate Kering will stop using animal fur to align with Gen Z and Millennial consumers’ values.

Oct 13 2021

French luxury fashion conglomerate Kering will stop using animal fur to align with Gen Z and Millennial consumers’ values. By fall 2022, Kering’s brands, which include Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, and Bottega Veneta, will no longer use real animal fur, stating that “the world has changed, along with our clients, and luxury naturally needs to adapt to that.” Young consumers are increasingly shopping their values, including eco-consciousness and social causes. Gen Z and Millennials have been going zero waste while finding ways to live an eco-friendly lifestyle—including seeking more sustainable ways to stay in fashion. YPulse has found that 70% of 13-39-year-olds in the U.S have changed some element of their behavior or purchasing due to their concerns about it, and secondhand shopping habits have already started to transform the luxury industry.
