Jardigans, printed pants, and denim are the new office dress code. YPulse’s fashion and style research predicted that “biz-leisure style” would be a fashion trend to emerge from the pandemic, and it appears it’s sticking around—and with more maximalist tones than before. Today’s worker is trading in pencil skirts, suit pants, and all black attires for bright colors, patterned prints, and wide, loose-fitting clothing. Black is in fact not back, and retailers are creating new lines to marry work appropriate clothing with peoples’ love of comfy loungewear. M.M.LaFleur recently created the “jardigan”—a blazer made out of soft cardigan material—and sales for its comfy new workwear have been booming—casual workwear before the pandemic accounted for 25% of the company’s sales; now it’s 60%. As vaccinated consumers look forward to going out and dressing up again, they plan to spend more on comfortable styles from brands like Levi’s over luxury labels like Calvin Klein and Coach. (NBC)
