Since 2010, the “fit pic,” a.k.a. users on Instagram sharing an “outfit photo” of what they’re wearing from head to toe, has exploded into a “mainstream phenomenon.” Over 144K photos are currently hashtagged #fitpic on the app, and for some influencers like Caroline Daur, Bryan Yambo, Reese Blutstein—who all have thousands and millions of followers—it has become a full-time job where they carefully “tag” each item they’re wearing so their fans, and the brands on display, know they’re wearing a Gucci handbag or Loewe loafers. Oftentimes, the “burden of a fit pic” falls on one’s significant other as the photo subject begs their partners, friends, or even their own kids to be their “personal photographers.” (WSJ)
