| 2021 is expected to be “a good year for apparel.” According to experts, with COVID vaccines arriving combined the potential comeback of in-person events driving “pent-up demand,” this year could bring good news to the apparel industry. Some analysts indicated that 2020’s total holiday sales rose 2% with athleisure and comfortable wear, and home “dominating the gift-giving categories.” The shift of ecommerce is expected to accelerate even more, but consumers are also “eager to be back in stores, and in the middle of the pandemic, they indicated an enthusiasm for the treasure hunt [format] that’s part of the off-price model.” YPulse’s Retail’s New Reality trend report found that while 85% of 13-39-year-olds have shopped online for items, clothes, foods, and other items, 74% say they miss shopping in-stores.
