Home Depot won big during the pandemic—and they’re hoping to build on the momentum.

Home Depot won big during the pandemic—and they’re hoping to build on the momentum. YPulse’s No Place Like Home trend report found that 64% of 13-39-year-olds say they’ve become more interested in improving and fixing up their homes because of COVID. Because of the pandemic, many cooped up young consumers have opted to spend stay-at-home savings and some of their stimulus checks on home improvement projects. Home Depot just reported its “strongest quarterly sales growth in nearly 20 years” with revenue from May to July up 23% reaching $38.1 billion, compared with the same period last year. According to the company, being able to spin out mobile apps for curbside pickup as well as real-time inventory-tracking software has contributed to their ability to be able to quickly accommodate their DIY customers. And thanks to a 12 ft giant skeleton, Home Depot was also popular among the social media crowd: The Halloween decor has been consistently sold out in-person and online for months. (WSJ)
