Hotels.com is offering young travelers the chance to literally “live under a rock” until the election is over. Young consumers who are currently stressed out by current events will have the opportunity to book a stay with Hotels.com to “hide out” under a rock somewhere in New Mexico in a property that looks like a comfy cave, without WiFi, cable TV, or daily news updates. The five-night stay from November 2 to 7 is just $5 a night, to help consumers “avoid doomscrolling and doomwatching election day results.” This isn’t the first time Hotels.com has dabbled in experimental rental marketing: Last year, they offered a Lisa Frank-themed penthouse for rent as a way to reach nostalgic Millennials.
