Levi’s and Gucci are launching secondhand shops. Young consumers were already into secondhand clothing prior to the pandemic, and two popular apparel brands are debuting resale shops this month. Levi’s is launching Levi’s Secondhand, a “recommerce site” for previously worn jeans and denim jackets from the brand. Some of it will be “handpicked vintage,” while most will be directly from customers. Meanwhile, Gucci is partnering with The RealReal to launch an ecommerce site for secondhand pieces from customers and the brand itself. The unusual move from a luxury brand could “curry favor with younger consumers who flock to resale sites.” (WWD, Sourcing Journal) |
