ASOS and Walmart are both taking a much more sustainable approach to their clothing—in different ways. With climate change top of mind for young shoppers, more retailers and clothing brands are making sustainability a priority. ASOS just announced their “first ever circular collection” featuring 29 trendy pieces that include denim and knitwear pieces. Each item went through a “circle” cycle of designing out waste and pollution, keeping products and materials in use, and regenerating natural systems. Meanwhile, Walmart launched new in-house brand Free Assembly, with pieces made from organic cotton and recycled polyester. While the approaches differ, the efforts show that “every single tier of the fashion industry is starting to grasp that citizens value sustainability.” (Fashionista)
