Amazon is launching a new platform to offer virtual classes, shopping trips, and “sightseeing tours.” With everything going virtual in the COVID era, Amazon’s new Explore initiative will allow users to “explore anything from lessons to landmarks” via a video stream. With Explore, people will gain access to tour guides, instructors, and personal shoppers who will provide “one-on-one sessions.” While only the host is visible on camera during the virtual experience, the audio goes two ways, that way users can ask questions and make requests. The “Explore” page will have a range of sessions from a virtual shopping experience in Ridgeland, USA to a tour of a mansion in Lima, Peru, or a bagel class. The prices vary anywhere between $10 to hundreds of dollars. The ecommerce giant will even provide a list of optional ingredients and supplies to purchase before a session to help users prepare for it. (TechCrunch, The Verge)
