A majority of parents say their teens’ social media use has increased during the pandemic—and they’re worried. We’ve told you about how young consumers are using social media more during COVID. And according to the Parenting Teens in the Age of Social Media report from the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago that surveyed nearly 3,000 parents, 63% of teens are using social media more than they did pre-pandemic compared to 25% who said their children use it less. Teens’ “obsession” with social media is “deeply concerning” to parents, and 80% of respondents said they have set rules around the use of smartphones and social media, with 3 out of 4 citing that they’ve been successful enforcing them. Forty-three percent of parents reported using a monitoring app or restricting device with 68% saying those worked as expected. (TechRepublic)
