This video game can be officially prescribed as medicine for kids diagnosed with ADHD. EndeavorRX, formerly Project EVO, just became the first iPhone and iPad video game to be FDA-approved as a prescription. After undergoing seven years of clinical trials, this is a “landmark decision” from the agency in which doctors are now allowed to prescribe the game for eight-to-12-years-olds who are diagnosed with ADHD. According to developer Akili Interactive, the “next step” is to actually launch the game. In our State of Gaming report, we found that video games can act as a form of therapy for stressed out teens and young adults, with 76% of 13-36-year-old gamers saying that playing video games are a way for them to escape.
