Snapchat made a comeback during Coronavirus—can the momentum be sustained after the pandemic? Snap has rallied during the COVID crisis, increasing its revenue 44% and seeing a spike in users in the first quarter. YPulse’s COVID special research on social media use found that 54% of 13-18-year-olds are now using Snapchat daily—compared to 38% who were using the app daily in October of 2019. To reach these young users, advertisers are reportedly doubling the amount they are spending on campaigns, and AR lenses have seen a 37% lift. The company believes the momentum will continue on even after lockdowns are lifted, saying high schoolers “will use Snapchat in college, after graduation and as they get older.” (WSJ, Mobile Marketer)
