In the age of COVID, could social media and gaming save kids from loneliness and depression? With schools shut down and year-end events cancelled, many teens’ mental health is suffering. According to the Crisis Text Line, there has been an increase from users 17-years-old and under in conversations regarding “suicide” and “school.” While parents were previously concerned with their kids spending too much time on screen, video games and social media have become lifelines and a major solace for young people trying to stay connected with friends.
