Young viewers are binge-watching disaster movies and true crime.

Young viewers are binge-watching disaster movies and true crime. Gen Z and Millennials can’t live without streaming services while they’re quarantined—and it’s already made an impact on their media consumption. According to WarnerMedia, binge-watching three or more episodes on HBO Now has jumped 65% compared to the past four weeks, and movie viewing has increased 70%. While crime series like Netflix’s much talked about Tiger King are some of the popular titles viewers are watching, disaster flicks and documentaries like Contagion, Outbreak, and Ebola: The Doctor’s Story are even more popular. YPulse’s exclusive COVID-19 data found that 31% of 13-39-year-olds have watched a movie about a pandemic or apocalypse. (Adweek)
