Athleisure is saving the fashion retail industry during the pandemic. With most people working and exercising from home, most are looking for clothes more appropriate to their new setting. According to a Cotton Inc. study, 60% of shoppers are wearing more casual apparel and activewear with 84% saying they have been primarily looking for comfortable clothes like activewear, sleepwear, and lounge apparel. A Coresight Research report shows that 12% of consumers were buying less clothing, shoes, and accessories—but YPulse’s exclusive COVID-19 data found that over a third of quarantined young consumers actually say they have or will buy clothes because of Coronavirus.
