The toy and entertainment industries are banking on YouTube talent to reach the next generation. At last year’s toy fair, YouTube-inspired toys were a major trend, and it shows no sign of slowing down. In 2020, Jazwares, a company that has produced toys based on Fornite and Peppa Pig, will be launching products centered on popular YouTube channels like Blippi, CKN Toys, and Cocomelon. To reach a generation raised on YouTube, TV networks are also dipping into that talent pool: Nickelodeon has collaborated with 8-year-old sensation Ryan Kaji for their Ryan’s Mystery Playdate show and recruited another YouTuber for a new scripted buddy-comedy series.
