A new Instagram add-on prioritizes interactions with close friends, mimicking some of Snapchat’s best features. “Close Friends” was added last fall, letting users curate a small list of followers that would see the Stories of their choosing. Now, Facebook is reportedly working on Threads, which will take the “Close Friends” list to the next level by allowing users to directly share photos, videos, and more with select followers (which is basically Snapchat’s main function), as well as location (similar to SnapMap). Threads could also nix the need for “finstas,” or fake Instagram accounts that teens create to interact with close friends. (Vox)
